Under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana’, the poor want to provide 5 kg of rice or wheat per person and 1 kg of pulses per family free for the next three months. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in a press conference with Minister of State Anurag Thakur, this would be over and above their current food security rights of 5 kg of food grains.
The money of the poor is being deposited in the bank accounts so that the epidemic of corona virus does not cause any problem to the poor family and it does not become a victim of starvation.
In the accounts of all the beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala scheme, an amount equal to the cost of gas refill cylinder is being put in advance so that the beneficiaries can get gas refill. So far, Rs 5,606 crore has been added to the accounts of about 7.15 crore people under the Ujjwala scheme. This relief is only for three months i.e. from April to June 2020.
