A safari in Africa is a once in a lifetime experience to really enjoy this wild continent and the amazing creatures that call it home. Many people are inspired by the beauty of this wild land and its creatures, and you can have a look at a bronze wildlife sculpture yourself at http://www.gillparker.com/ . So, if you are lucky enough to be heading off on safari, here are a few things to remember to make sure that you make the best of your time there…
Be sun safe – The hot sun of Africa is much more intense than we are used to, and if you are out and about in it for large amounts of the day it is wise to take precautions. A hat is essential with a wide brim to keep the heat of the sun off the head, face, ears, and neck. Make sure that you can tie it up under the chin or secure it to the head so that it isn’t swept away by a gust of wind. One of your main essentials for being safe in the sun will obviously be sun cream. Make sure you take a high factor (at least 30) and apply at regular intervals, more often if skin is feeling as if it is starting to burn. After sun for the evenings is another must-have.
Protect your feet- Make sure you pack sensible footwear for the day that covers and protects your feet – both from the sun and from the scorching hot ground or any stinging or biting animals and plants that live in Africa. If you are going to be having to walk across the grass to an outdoor shower, a pair of rubber sandals or flip flops are strongly advised to make sure that you keep your feet clean and safe on the journey.
Don’t forget the rain – It is easy to assume that the sun will always be shining, but there may be some heavy rainstorms whilst you are out and about, so make sure that you pack a lightweight rain coat for when the rain pours down. After all, you don’t want to spend the whole safari feeling soggy! It is worth remembering that when it rains in Africa it really does pour. Also, maybe consider a waterproof case to put your phone, camera or any other electrical devices in to keep them safe and dry. You will want to return home with all your photos in one piece so that you can relive your special memories.
